A coalition of charities and organizations is rallying support for the donation of a minibus to assist families displaced by the conflict in Ukraine. The appeal, spearheaded by the Ukrainian Foundation for Public Health in the Western Lviv region, seeks a 7-10 seat vehicle to replace an unreliable car currently in use. The foundation supports approximately 5,000 children who have fled from Eastern Ukraine.
This initiative has gained significant backing from various quarters. Swindon Humanitarian Aid Partnership (SHAP), which has previously sent multiple buses and nearly 2,000 tonnes of aid to Ukraine, is actively involved. SHAP Chair Mike Bowden has offered to help deliver the minibus if the effort is successful.
Go-Ahead East Anglia's donation of the Optare Solo minibus, transformed into a ‘children’s story bus,’ highlights the creative ways the industry is contributing. Additionally, Dawsongroup Bus and Coach, along with Lord Berkeley and the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Road Passenger Transport Industry, are supporting the appeal.
Paul Sainthouse, Managing Director of Dawsongroup Bus and Coach, emphasized the importance of continued assistance to Ukraine, especially for the children affected by the conflict. Dr. Victoria Armstrong, CEO of the Community Transport Association (CTA), reiterated this sentiment, noting the profound impact of providing stable resources for the children’s future.
This appeal has been widely covered by the media, underlining the collective effort to support Ukrainian families in need. For more details, please refer to the following link:
